Brian Menold
A woodworker for over 40 years, Brian Menold has enjoyed puzzles since he was a child. 10 years ago these two pursuits turned into a passion for making wooden puzzles, and eventually Brian made this into his vocation. Today he builds wooden puzzles for collectors all over the world in his small New Jersey workshop. When not working with wood, Brian enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending time with his partner, children and grandchildren.
Brian makes several types of puzzles including: interlocking (put together and take apart), packing, and coordinate motion. He works primarily in exotic woods for their beauty and quality. He also uses a laser to add decorations to puzzles in addition to creating some from acrylic.
Brian has also written a book on puzzle making, Wooden Puzzles - 20 Handmade Puzzles and Brain Teasers, that describe the tools and techniques to make a variety of interlocking puzzles. It is a great source for someone new to the craft.
